5 Easy-to-Follow Social Media Tips for Your Small Business

Most people have heard that social media is effective for marketing purposes, but they may not necessarily know how to make the best use of it. Many small business owners may find that they end up spending a lot of time on doing social media posts, but they don’t get that much of a response. It’s actually hard to build up a following from scratch, and there may be times when you find that your followers increase very slowly. So is it possible to speed up this process? Here are some tips:

  1. Post a Lot: One of the easiest ways to get more people to look at your social media posts is to increase the number of posts you do. You may already think that you post a lot, but there are people and businesses who post every day, three times a day. If you can come up with interesting content to post more often (or get someone to do it for you), then you’re likely to get many more followers who could turn into potential clients.
  2. Hashtags and Keywords: Social media allows you to use a number of hashtags to enable people to find you. There’s no harm in using the maximum possible hashtags and playing around with different hashtags to find which ones work best. The same goes for keywords. But it’s best not to overuse keywords or else your content will come across as stilted.
  3. Use Influencers: You may not have a lot of followers on social media, but there are definitely bloggers and social media personalities who do. If you can get one or more of these influencers to endorse your product and develop relationships with them, you can get your views, likes and following to skyrocket. Giving out free samples of your product is a great way to get more influencers to work with you.
  4. Use Video: Many social media platforms allow you to post videos as well as photos. These can be particularly effective for your social media page because they start playing immediately, as soon as the person scrolls over them. And if they’re engaging right from the start, then the person is likely to get interested and see them until the end.
  5. Be Informal: One thing that businesses don’t often recognize is that when it comes to social media, it’s best to be informal. Use a casual tone in whatever you write. Post videos that you just happened to make on the fly. If you connect with your viewers in a friendly, conversational way, they’re more likely to get interested in what you’re saying.
